Goldwater junior Bree Garcia became the fourth wrestler from the state of Arizona to win two state individual championships after she went 5-0 at the Girls Wrestling Championship held at mesquite High School on Friday and Saturday. Naomi Norton of Arizona Lutheran also won her second staright title.

Garcia (14-0) held off a late charge from Canyon del Oro standout Mylei Seigla (9-2) in the final match by a 5-3 decision in the 132-pound division. Seigla, a senior, finished in second place last year. Garcia was the only repeat champion from last year.

Sunnyside freshman Audrey Jimenez (9-0) became the first girl from the Tucson area to win an individual title when she won by fall over Valley Vista standout Brianna Reyes (10-1).

Seniors Amber R. Rodriguez (13-1) of Basha won in the 145-pound division and Courtney Cardoza (9-0) of Millennium won in the 152-pound division which means there will be at least two open spots next year.

As a team, Basha became the first program to win a state championship and the Bears did it by a wide margin over second place finishers Liberty and Winslow. Basha scored 191 points and led from beginning to end by taking nine individual medals out of the 14 divisions, including three individual titles.

Liberty and Winslow tied with 108 points and Casteel followed with 107.5. Westwood took fifth place with 107.
