Salpointe went 6-0 to win the championship of the Lancer Boys Volleyball Invitational held Friday and Saturday on the Salpointe campus. The Lancers beat Boulder Creek 2-1 in the championship final Saturday afternoon.

Salpointe is ranked No. 8 in the 4A Conference with an 8-3 record in ranking matches and Boulder Creek (6-4) is No. 18 in the 6A Conference. The Jaguars went 5-1 at the tournament and the team took the first set 25-23 over Salpointe in the final despite being down 8-3 early and down 23-21 late in the match.

The Jaguars closed the first set off on a 4-0 run to take it 25-23 but Salpointe won the second set 25-15 and the deciding set 15-10 to win the match 2-1.

Dawson Leber had nine kills for Salpointe, Tyler Nitka added eight, Lehi Rocha had seven and Alexander Owens had six. Reyes Gardner-Figueroa had nine digs and Antony Owens collected 32 assists in the victory. Xian Gonzalez had 20 assists for the Jaguars, Cruz Kaikala had 11 kills and Blake Wells added seven.

Boulder Creek opens up Desert Valley Region play on Tuesday, hosting No. 21 Liberty (3-5). Salpointe will hosts No. 24 Sahuaro (5-5) on the same night.
