No. 2 Canyon del Oro uses 11-run inning to get past No. 10 Notre Dame Prep 13-4

No. 2 Canyon del Oro scored 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning to get past No. 10 Notre Dame Prep 13-4 in second round action of the 5A Conference playoffs. The Dorados will face No. 3 Centennial in the third round to be played on Thursday at Tempe Diablo Stadium at 4 p.m. No. 1 Canyon View will play No. 4 Catalina Foothills in the second game of the night at 6:30 p.m.
Notre Dame (14-16) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a massive two-run blast from Aidan Martinez that cleared the top of the centerfield wall. That lead help up until the lengthy bottom of the third where the Dorados (25-5) sent 17 batters to the plate. Canyon del Oro worked the bases full where Peyton Carson singled to bring one run but the ball was misplayed in the outfield, allowing the bases to clear with Carson standing on third.
David Adams homered two batters later and then seven of the next ten batters drew walks. By the time the inning was over, the Dorados led 11-2. Notre Dame scored two runs in the fourth and Canyon del Oro scored again in the fifth and sixth innings for the 13-4 victory. Notre Dame is still alive and the Saints will play at No. 6 Nogales on Thursday in an elimination game under the double-elimination format. Nogales lost to Centennial 2-0.
For Canyon del Oro, Tarrell Reid (6-0) got the start and Peyton Carson (3-2) also saw action. Adams went 2-2 with three RBI and a home runs, Carson went 3-3 with three RBI and Brayden Hoyer went 2-3 with two RBI. The Saints sent seven pitchers to the mound in the loss. Martinez had a home run and two RBI and Brayden Higby went 2-3.
