Section 7 kicks off Friday
June 10, 2025 by Ethan Holtzinger, Arizona State University

Section 7, one of the most prominent offseason high school basketball recruiting events in the country, will begin again this Friday.
Over 400 high school teams, 5,000 student athletes and 900 college coaches throughout the country attend the event annually.
The goal is to provide a platform for some of the nation’s top players and teams to showcase their talents through qualifiers and bracket-style tournaments.
This year, Section 7 will be held at its new home, the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa. It will run in three sections: the Girls Weekend (June 13-14); the Boys Qualifier (June 17-18); and the Boys Weekend (June 20-22).
Games will start as early as 8:00 a.m. and run late into the evening.
A few months ago, Section 7 announced a new partnership with the Arizona Sports and Entertainment Commission (ASEC), as well as a new tournament director in Tom Burnett. Burnett is a former NCAA men’s basketball committee chair and commissioner of the Southland Conference.
