HAYDEN 74, MOGOLLON 48

MOGOLLON — In a battle of two powerhouse 1A football programs, the final score looked more like a basketball game between these two clubs, not an eight-man matchup on the gridiron.

Darren Smith completed 8 of 11 passes for 248 yards and six touchdowns, Kino Lorona ran 15 times for 159 yards and two scores, and defending 1A champ Hayden won a shootout 74-48 on Friday night.

The Lobos (4-0, 1-0 1A East) held Mogollon to zero points in the second quarter, which was the difference in this high-octane battle.

Quinn Tenney completed 14 of 21 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns for the Mustangs (2-2), while Kaleb Porter had 13 carries for 117 yards and a score in the loss.
