Saturday, October 18: Rolling Hills Golf Course

 

The Ironwood Ridge girls beat Xavier by three points Saturday morning to claim the championship of the John Gleeson Lancer Invitational hosted by Salpointe at the Rolling Hills Golf Course. The Nighthawks compete at the D-II level and the Gtaors are a D-I power. Individually, Xavier senior Kennedy Frakes (18:48.01) outpaced Pusch Ridge senior Hayley Floyd 18:55.25. Pusch Ridge competes at the D-III level.

For the boys, Mountain Ridge scored an incredible 32 points to beat Ironwood Ridge (140). Five runners for Mountain Ridge finished in the top 13 including individual champion, Sr. Collin Foley (15:47.88). Rincon/University Sr. Finnegan Hawes (15:52.32) took second.

The various sectional meets are set for either Nov. 5 or Nov. 6 and the top 50% of the teams from each of the races will move on to the state meet scheduled for Nov. 15 at the Cave Creek Golf Course. The top seven runners not a attached to a qualifying team will also compete at state.
