Shaylee Fuell scores four to help lead Mica Mountain past Sunnyside

Mica Mountain improved to 5-2 on the year after the Bolts beat Sunnyside 9-1 on the road Tuesday night. Junior Shaylee Fuell scored four goals on the night to set the tone. The Blue Devils fell to 0-6 on the year. Fuell, a Gonzaga commit, has 12 goals on the year and 73 in her career.

Gabby Dincher started the scoring in the second minute and then Fuell scored her first goal three minutes later. Fuell scored again in the 22nd minute and Ashlee Romero scored in the 33rd. Fuell picked up her hat trick in the 38th minute to give the Thunderbolts a 5-0 lead at the break,

Mica Mountain scored on an own goal in the 47th minute to go up 6-0 and then Fuell scored on a penalty in the 54th minute to make it 7-0 but Lucy Aguero hit the net in the 60th minute to cut the lead down to 7-1 to help avoid the mercy rule. Nadine Ponce De Leon scored in the 64th minute to make it 8-1 and Ponce De Leon scored again six minutes later to end the game 9-1.

Mica Mountain put up 26 shots to three.

Both teams will take a bit of a break with Sunnyside hosting Cienega (3-0) on Jan. 7 and Mica Mountain will host Rio Rico (5-3) on Jan. 8.
