Southern Arizona flexed its muscles -- as it usually does in wrestling -- on Friday night (Feb. 8) with Sunnyside regaining the Division I state title and Ironwood Ridge taking home its third straight Divison II crown at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

The big news Friday individually revolved around Chandler senior Dalton Brady, who won his fourth individual title by edging Dajour Reece of Cesar Chavez, 5-3, in the 138-pound championship bout. Reece and Brady won state titles last year.

Brady moved up from 120 to 138 and Reece moved up from 113 to 138. Brady won previous titles at 103, 112 and 120. Brady was one of three D-I repeat champs. The others were Desert Vista's Alex Bambic (182) and Mesa' Ben Andrew (220). Mesa Mountain View's senior Seth Monty, who won a state title in 2011, rebounded to win a second state tite -- this one at 152.

The rest of the D-I night belonged predominantly to Sunnyside. Sunnyside totaled 151.5 points and was folllowed by Chandler (132), Corona del Sol (127), Mesa Mountain View (122.5) and Cibola (96.5). The Blue Devils had seven wrestlers compete in the evening's medal rounds and four of the seven won -- including state championships for Juaqin Olivas (113), William Olivas (126) and Gabriel Gonzales (195). Sergio Miranda (120) and Ricky Villegas (HWT) were third-place finishers and Raul Moraga (138) and Aaron Steinback (145) earned fourth-place finishes.

In Division II, Ironwood Ridge had a whopping 216.5 points to 128 for runner-up Gila Ridge. Prescott (85) was third followed by Marana (81) and Queen Creek (77.5). Ironwood Ridge had four of its six wrestlers in title matches come out victorious (Tate Sandifer (138), Troy Taylor (145) , Matt Filbert (152) and Scott Simmons (195)). Repeating as D-II champs were Marana Mountain View's Bailey Janis (113), Ironwood Ridge's Taylor and Filbert and Flagstaff's Austin Gaun.

Gila Ridge got impressive title runs from Nathan Mendivil (106) and Austin Gerber (120). Both won all four of their state matches via pin as did  Gaun (182) and Sahuaro's Kyle Jividen (HWT).
