Alyssa Bush, Mary Moran and Marina Felipe Tabbed as Max Preps/NFCA National H.S. Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As a result of their impressive performances in games occurring over February 25-March 3, Alyssa Bush (Ellender (Houma, La.) High School), Mary Moran (Caddo Mills (Caddo Mills, Texas) High School) and Marina Felipe (McFarland (McFarland, Calif.) High School) have been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week.

SOUTH REGION: Bush hit an impressive 10-for-18 (.556) with five runs scored, a double, a triple, a HR and her first nine RBIs of the campaign, while also going a perfect 5-0 from the circle with four complete game shutouts, a pair of one-hitters and 33 strikeouts over 24 frames of effort. The sophomore pitcher was 3-for-4 with a HR and four RBIs and struck out four over three innings in a 15-0 victory over Grand Isle (Fla.). She is now 7-2 overall on the season with a 1.26 ERA and 74 K's in 55.2 innings.

SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: A junior pitcher/first baseman, Moran tallied a 4-0 mark with a miniscule 0.56 ERA, four complete games and 23 K's over 25 frames. At the dish, she also hit .556 (10-for-18) with nine tallies, a pair of HR's and 14 RBIs. Her finest performances offensively came during a 17-2 win over Chapel Hill (Texas), as she was 4-for-5 with four RBIs, and in a 16-1 rout of Fruitvale (Texas), going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. She's now hitting a robust .553 overall with 16 RBIs and is 7-3 from the circle with a 1.35 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 62 innings.

WEST REGION: In McFarland's six season-opening match-ups, junior pitcher Felipe wasted no time making her presence felt, posting a .524 batting average (11-for-21) with seven runs scored, two doubles, two triples, a HR and 15 RBIs, while also going 5-1 from the circle with a 0.44 ERA and 64 strikeouts over just 32 frames. She reached double-digits for K's during four of her six starts with 14 in a 3-0 triumph over Parlier (Calif.) and 13 during a 5-1 victory over Woodlake (Calif.). Her finest effort at the dish came in a 20-1 rout of Monache (Calif.) as Felipe went a perfect 5-for-5 with a double, a triple and five RBIs.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
