Kasey Cooper, Katelyn Standley and Taylor Cotton Chosen as Max Preps/NFCA Nat'l H.S. Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As a result of their impressive performances in games occurring over March 4-11, Kasey Cooper (Dothan (Dothan, Ala.) High School), Katelyn Standley (Troup (Troup, Texas) High School) and Taylor Cotton (Whitney (Rocklin, Calif.) High School) have been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week.
SOUTH REGION: Cooper hit a staggering .632 (12-for-19) with 10 runs scored, five doubles, six HR's and 19 RBIs while also posting a perfect 6-0 record from the circle with a 1.17 ERA and 50 strikeouts over 30 innings of work. The senior pitcher/shortstop hit safely in seven of her team's eight contests, highlighted by four-RBI efforts during wins over Northview (Ala.), Gulf Shores (Ala.) and Auburn (Ala.). For the season, Cooper boasts a .619 average with seven HR's and 28 RBIs, while owning a 7-3 pitching mark with a 1.26 ERA and 95 K's in 66.2 frames.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: A senior catcher/utility player, Standley helped Troup H.S. to a perfect 8-0 record this past week by hitting .684 (13-for-19) with 16 runs scored, four doubles, three triples, four HR's, six walks and 19 RBIs. She was a perfect 2-for-2 at the dish with two HR's, three runs scored and five RBIs in a 17-4 win over Centerville (Texas) and 4-for-4 with three tallies, a double, two triples and five RBIs in a 12-2 triumph over Krum (Texas). Standley is currently batting .576 for the season with 11 doubles, four three-baggers, eight HR's and 37 RBIs.
WEST REGION: Senior pitcher/outfielder Cotton christened her 2013 campaign by hitting .667 (14-for-21) overall with four runs scored, three doubles and six RBIs while also posting a 6-0 record from the circle with a miniscule 0.18 ERA and 57 strikeouts over 39 innings of effort. Among her finest performances of the week was a two-hitter with 19 strikeouts while also going 4-for-4 at the dish during a 4-1 win over Del Oro (Calif.) and a 3-for-4 effort with two doubles and a pair of RBIs in a 9-1 triumph over Carson (Nev.).
