Graham, Anderson, Wireman and Durham Selected as Max Preps/NFCA Nat'l H.S. Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For their impressive efforts during games occurring over March 18-24, Emily Graham of Jacksonville (Jacksonville, Ill.) High School, Denise Anderson of Dothan (Dothan, Ala.) High School, Jessica Wireman of Male (Louisville, Ky.) High School and Dustie Durham of Estrella Foothills (Goodyear, Ariz.) High School have been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week.
NORTH REGION: A senior centerfielder for the Crimsons, Graham batted .500 (9-for-18) over Jacksonville High School's initial six contests of the season with eight runs scored, two triples, two walks, two steals, two HR's and seven RBIs. During match-ups against Griggsville-Perry (Ill.) and Pleasant Plains (Ill.), she posted identical 2-for-3 efforts with two runs tallied, a HR and three RBIs, while she was 2-for-4 with a pair of triples against Rochester (Ill.).
SOUTH REGION: A senior catcher at Dothan High School, Anderson hit safely in all six of last week's match-ups, posting an outstanding .733 batting mark (11-for-15) with three doubles, two HR's and 13 RBIs while guiding the Tigers to a perfect 6-0 record. Included in her efforts was a pair of 2-for-2, HR, five-RBI performances in victories over Long (Ala.) and Ashford (Ala.). For the season Anderson now owns a .361 average with six doubles, five HR's and 30 RBIs.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: A junior at Louisville (Ky.) Male High School, Wireman wasted no time making her presence felt both at the plate and in the circle during her squad's first eight match-ups of the 2013 campaign. She posted a blistering .696 batting average (16-for-23) with a pair of doubles, 14 runs scored and 11 RBIs to go along with a 3-0 pitching record, a 1.87 ERA and 19 strikeouts over 15 innings of work. She managed to hit safely in all eight contests with her finest performance coming in a 20-2 rout of Spencer County (Ky.) as Wireman was 3-for-4 with three tallies and five RBIs. During a 4-1 triumph over Holy Cross (Ky.) the hurler allowed just one run on two hits with seven K's over eight frames of effort while going 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.
WEST REGION: A sophomore pitcher/infielder for the Wolves, Durham was a perfect 4-0 from the circle with a 0.00 ERA and 27 strikeouts over 19.1 frames of effort, while also hitting .571 (8-for-14) with five runs scored, three doubles, a HR and six RBIs as her squad registered a 5-0 record on the week. She recorded at least two hits at the dish in four of the five contests, knocking in three tallies in a 13-0 triumph over Fountain Hills (Ariz.) and doubling twice during an 8-5 victory over St. Johns (Ariz.). For the year Durham boasts a .435 batting average with six doubles, 17 runs scored and 13 RBIs, while also possessing a 14-1 pitching record with a 1.74 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 80.1 innings of work.
