Hastings, Mirabella, Humes and Hyland Reap Max Preps/NFCA Nat'l H.S. Accolades

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For their impressive efforts during games occurring over March 25-31, Emily Hastings of Riverside-Brookfield (Riverside, Ill.) High School, Courtney Mirabella of Braden River (Bradenton, Fla.) High School, Autumn Humes of Bald Knob (Bald Knob, Ark.) High School and Sierra Hyland of El Diamante (Visalia, Calif.) High School have been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week.
NORTH REGION: A senior catcher/first baseman for the Bulldogs, Hastings led the way at the plate by hitting .550 (11-for-20) over her team's initial seven contests of the campaign with a double, a triple, a HR and four RBIs. She was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored, a HR and a trio of RBIs against De La Salle (Ill.) and 3-for-3 versus Lyons (Ill.). For the week, Hastings hit safely in six of seven match-ups and also drew three walks for a .609 on-base percentage.
SOUTH REGION: A senior pitcher/centerfielder at Braden River High School, Mirabella was incredible from the circle, going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 60 strikeouts over just 30 innings of work. Included was a trio of complete-game, 20-strikeout efforts, a perfect game during a 9-0 victory over Palmetto (Fla.) and a 16-inning triumph over Jenkins (Fla.), 1-0. She also hit .368 (7-for-19) at the dish with her best effort a 3-for-4, two-RBI performance during an 8-0 win over Eau Gallie (Fla.). On the season Mirabella is 11-3 overall for the Pirates with an impressive 211 strikeouts in just 102.2 frames.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: A freshman pitcher/first baseman for the Bulldogs, Humes batted .700 (7-for-10) with eight runs scored, two doubles, three triples, a HR and nine RBIs, while also posting a 2-0 record from the circle with a 0.70 ERA and 24 strikeouts over 10 innings of effort. She was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate while hitting for the cycle (single, double, triple, HR), scored four tallies and totaled five RBIs while also tossing a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts during a 15-1 rout of Riverview (Ark.). For the year, Humes is hitting .531 overall with three doubles, six triples, two HR's and 16 RBIs, while owning a 5-2 pitching record with 56 K's in 41.2 innings.
WEST REGION: A senior pitcher at El Diamante High School, Hyland registered a .500 batting average (8-for-16) with seven runs scored, two doubles, two triples and seven RBIs, while also recording a perfect 4-0 pitching mark to go along with a 0.56 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 25 innings of work. Among her most impressive efforts was a 4-for-4 performance at the dish with four tallies, two doubles and three RBIs in a 15-2 rout of Taft (Calif.) and a 13-strikeout, complete-game victory in topping San Joaquin Memorial (Calif.), 11-0. For the season, Hyland is a perfect 13-0 for the Miners with 104 K's in 88.2 frames and is also batting .529 with six doubles, four triples, a HR and 17 RBIs.
