MaxPreps/NFCA Players of the Week for June 1-7, 2015

Alicia Hansen is the CBS MaxPreps/NFCA Player of the Week from the East Region after leading her Liverpool (N.Y.) team into the NYSPHSAA Class AA Final Four this weekend.


LOUISVILLE, Ky.
– Senior Alicia Hansen of Liverpool (Liverpool, N.Y.), junior Cassidy Tucker of Coleman (Coleman, Mich.), senior Christa Hall of Grafton (Yorktown, Va.), senior Samantha Show of East Bernard (East Bernard, Texas) and sophomore Jessica Gomez of St. Bonaventure (Ventura, Calif.) were selected the final group of MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week, respectively, for 2015. These student-athletes were honored for their outstanding play for the week of June 1-7.

East

Hansen posted a 5-for-8 (.625) week at the plate with a triple, eight RBI and five runs scored. She also walked twice and recorded a .727 on base percentage. The senior shortstop went 2-for-4, with a triple, five RBI and three runs scored against Proctor. Hansen continued her hot streak with a 3-for-4 showing against Shenendehowa, driving in three and scoring two more times in a 10-5 triumph.

North
In a pair of victories, Tucker hit .714 (5-for-7) with three doubles, four RBI and four run scored for the Comets. She went a perfect 3-for-3 with a pair of two-baggers, two RBI and two runs scored in a 7-5 win over Fowler. Against Merrill, Tucker was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI.

South
In three games last week, Hall launched four home runs, drove in eight and slugged 1.538 for Grafton. Her week was highlighted by a three-homer performance against Deep Creek. In that contest, Hall was 4-for-5 with five RBI and three runs scored in a one-run defeat (9-10). She hit her first long ball of the week, knocked in three and scored twice in a 11-1 victory over Churchland. For the week, the senior hit .538 (7-for-13), scored six times and recorded a .571 on base percentage.

South Central
Show posted a 2-0 mark in the circle with a 0.50 ERA and also went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI, three walks and two runs scored in a pair of UIL Softball State Championship playoff games. In a 1-0 victory over Comanche, she twirled a five-hit, 18-strikeout shutout and also knocked in the lone run with a home run. A day later, she allowed a run on six hits with nine punchouts and three walks in a 8-1 win against Hallettsville. At the plate, the senior recorded a two-run single in her only plate appearance in a 8-1 triumph over Hallettsville. She walked twice and also scored a run.

West
Gomez hit .500 (4-for-8) with a double and four RBI in a pair of South Section playoff wins for the Seraphs. In a 2-1 win over San Dimas, she went 2-for-4, registering a double and RBI. Another 2-for-4 effort followed in a 8-0 shutout of Garden Grove. She knocked in three runs to help St. Bonaventure improve to 22-7.
