In its inaugural year the WBCA High School Player of the Week is presented to a deserving student-athlete who demonstrated outstanding play throughout the week. Head coaches submit nominations each week and the WBCA selects the individual based on stats that were submitted.
Region 1
Lexi Kimball, a 5-foot-10 junior from Greens Farms Academy (Greens Farms, Connecticut), earns her second MaxPreps/WBCA High School Player of the Week honor after helping guide the Dragons to a 3-0 record for the week, while improving to 10-4 overall. Kimball capped off the week averaging 25.3 points, 5.7 steals, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists. In the Dragons' 63-57 win against Convent of the Sacred Heart on Jan. 25, Kimball earned her fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Region 2
Kayla Agentowicz, a senior from Lakeland High School in Jermyn, Pennsylvania, averaged 29.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 3.3 assists. The 5-foot-9 captain posted a season-best 32 points in a 62-38 win against Old Forge on Jan. 25.
Region 3
Latrina Gatling, a 5-foot-5 senior from Jones Senior High School in Trenton, North Carolina, led the Trojans to a 2-1 record for the week, while moving to 14-6 on the season. The guard averaged 25.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 1.0 assists in the three games. In the Trojans' 69-47 win against Southside High School on Jan. 27, Gatling was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
Region 4
Mason VanHouten, a 5-foot-8 junior from Fort Wayne Canterbury High School (Fort Wayne, Indiana) ended the week averaging 27.7 points, 5.0 assists, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 blocks to help the Cavaliers go 2-1 on the week. Against Heritage High School on Jan. 26, VanHouten knocked down a season-high 43 points, propelling the Cavaliers to a 69-56 win.
Region 5
Takayla Gunter, a 5-foot-9 senior from Tuscumbia High School (Tuscumbia, Missouri) has helped navigate the Lions to five straight victories and move to 14-2 overall. In two games last week Gunter averaged 37.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 2.5 assists. During the Lions' 72-37 win against Versailles on Jan. 27, Gunter connected on 80 percent of her shots from the floor, making 16-of-20 attempts.
Region 6
Eryka Sidney, a 5-foot-6 senior from Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas, helped the Wildcats improve to 21-4 on the season following two wins on the week. During the two victories, the captain averaged 40.5 points, 11.0 steals, 8.5 assists and 7.5 rebounds. Sidney earned her second triple-double of the season in the Wildcats' 73-51 win on Jan. 25, posting a season-high 49 points and 13 steals, along with 10 assists.
Region 7
Alicia Reyes, a 5-foot-4 sophomore from Pueblo High School in Tucson, Arizona, has helped the Warriors improve to 20-3 overall with two wins last week. Reyes averaged 37.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals in the two victories. In the Warriors' 98-11 win against Cholla High School on Jan. 27, Reyes hit 17 shots from beyond the arch on the way to scoring a season-best 57 points.
Region 8
Kayla Washington, a 6-foot senior from Cajon High School in San Bernardino, California, has helped the Cowboys to 13 straight victories, including three last week to improve to 17-4 overall. Washington finished the week averaging 27.3 points, 15.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks. On Jan. 27, Washington scored 25 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in the Cowboys' 94-27 victory against Citrus Valley.
Region 9
Teiyahna Hutchinson, a 5-foot-6 sophomore from Port St. Joe High School (Port St. Joe, Florida), led the Sharks to a 2-1 week, while moving to 18-6 on the season. Hutchinson closed out the week averaging 31.0 points, 15.0 assists, 9.0 rebounds, 8.3 steals and 2.0 blocks. Hutchinson collected her second quadruple-double of the season in a 56-24 win against Vernon on Jan. 26, finishing the game with 21 points, 14 assists, 10 blocks and 10 steals.
