MaxPreps/WBCA Players of the Week for Week 11: February 8 - February 14, 2016

Senior Shaquana Edwards of Hartford Weaver (Conn.) was named MaxPreps/WBCA High School Player of the Week from Region 1 for the second time this season. The LaSalle commit averaged 34.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.3 steals for the period ending Feb. 14.


ATLANTA (February 16, 2016)
– The WBCA has announced its High School Players of the Week presented by MaxPreps for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 14.

In its inaugural year the WBCA High School Player of the Week is presented to a deserving student-athlete who demonstrated outstanding play throughout the week. Head coaches submit nominations each week and the WBCA selects the individual based on stats that were submitted.

Region 1

Shaquana (Shaq) Edwards, a 5-foot-7 senior from Weaver High School in Hartford, Connecticut, has earned her second MaxPreps/WBCA High School Player of the Week award for the season. The Beavers are currently on a five-game win streak and have won 15 of their last 16 games. In three games last week Edwards averaged 34.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.3 steals. Edwards tallied her fifth double-double of the season in a 72-53 win against Conard High School on Feb. 10, posting 33 points and 10 rebounds.

Region 2
Avery Chance, a senior from Fairton Christian Center & Academy (Fairton, New Jersey), led the Warriors to a 2-1 week to improve to 14-6 on the season. Chance capped off the week averaging 32.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 7.0 steals, 3.3 blocks and 1.3 assists. Chance recorded a season-best 46 points against Milford Christian on Feb. 12.

Region 3
Danasia Roberts, a 5-foot-8 freshman from Washington High School in Princess Anne, Maryland, closed out the week averaging 44.0 points, 17.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals 3.5 assists and 2.5 blocks in two games played. In the Jaguars' 74-38 win against Colonel Richardson High School on Feb. 8, Roberts finished with a season-high 50 points.

Region 4
Renee Stimpert, a 5-foot-9 senior from Crestview High School in Ashland, Ohio, propelled the Cougars to two victories to remain perfect on the season at 22-0. During the two wins the guard averaged 36.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals, 5.0 assists and 2.0 blocks. The captain collected her 12th double-double of the season in a 68-56 win against Monroeville High School on Feb. 11.

Region 5
Dawn Klabenes, a 5-foot-10 senior from Chambers/Wheeler Central High School (Chambers, Nebraska), guided the Renegades to three wins on the week to improve to 20-3 overall. The captain finished the week averaging 26.0 points, 20.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals and blocks, as well as 1.0 assists. Against Neligh-Oakdale High School on Feb. 12, Klabenes converted on 10-of-11 free throw attempts, propelling the Renegades to a 68-19 win.

Region 6
Tamia Stinson, a senior from Hattiesburg High School (Hattiesburg, Mississippi), helped the Tigers improve to 22-4 on the season following two wins on the week. During the two wins, Stinson averaged 35.5 points, 8.0 steals, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks. Stinson tied her season high of 10 steals in an 80-32 win against Petal High School on Feb. 11.

Region 7
Janie McRae, a senior from Shepherd High School (Shepherd, Montana), bolstered the Mustangs to two wins to remain undefeated at 18-0. McRae averaged 30.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals, 3.0 blocks and 2.5 assists in the two victories. McRae earned a season-best 37 points in a 65-48 win against Huntley Project High School on Feb. 12.

Region 8
Sierra Campisano, a 6-foot-3 senior from Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, California, led the Falcons to two wins to move to 19-6 overall. The captain concluded the week averaging 31.0 points, 15.5 rebounds, 5.5 blocks, 2.5 steals and 1.0 assists. Campisano has posted at least a double-double in each of the Falcons' 25 games this season.

Region 9
Elexia Evans, a 6-foot-3 junior from Greensboro East High School (Greensboro, Alabama), has helped her program to a 13-3 record on the season following two wins on the week. She ended the week averaging 32.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals. In a 72-57 win against Hale County on Feb. 10, Evans finished with a season-high 44 points.
