Chaparral survives another close one, rallies past Red Mtn.
It is not easy staying unbeaten in basketball. Playing close to 30 games or more in a season makes that extremely difficult. But for now, Chaparral boys basketball coach Aaron Windler will take a 6-0 mark. His Firebirds notched that sixth win Tuesday night with a big fourth quarter to upend host Red Mountain, 71-64, in a 5A non-region game.

North seems to know how to beat Red Mountain this season.Get behind big early. Lull the Mountain Lions asleep and pick the right time to pounce. It worked for the second time in three weeks Friday night as the Mustangs overcame a 12-point deficit early in the third period to post a 66-61 win over host Red Mountain in a 5A-I boys basketball game.

Last year East Valley schools raised one championship trophy in boys basketball. Tucson managed one. They\\\'re back at it beginning Monday as invitationals for the most part and a smattering of power-point games kick off the 2010-2011 season.
