Catalina Foothills beat Mountain View 2-0 on the final day of pool play at the Salpointe Brandon Bean Invitational Wednesday night. The victory gave the Falcons (2-0-1) the third seed coming out of Group C. Mountain View (1-2) did not advance out of pool play.
The Brandon Bean Invitational is held every year to honor a former Salpointe player who passed away in 1992 after an on-field collision at a soccer scrimmage. In addition, the tournament also honors former Salpointe girl’s player Laura Kea who died in an auto accident on her way to a soccer tournament.

A deflection and open net in the 45th minute is all that separated Notre Dame and Salpointe Saturday. Notre Dame forward Lindsay Shipley provided much of the pressure for the Saints in a game where controlling the pace and the ball does not always equal victory. Still, Shipley seemed to always be where the action was, so much so that when fellow sophomore Hannah Osland scored the winning goal, Shipley's name was announced to the crowd.
